Frequently asked questions about BuddySign.
BuddySign Basics
What is BuddySign?
BuddySign is currently in private beta while we evaluate partner-access, licensing, and integration opportunities. Access is limited to invited users and approved partners.
BuddySign is not a law firm, VSO, claims agent, medical provider, or VA system.

No. BuddySign is not affiliated with, endorsed by, approved by, or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
BuddySign does not guarantee that VA will accept, process, grant, or assign any rating based on a document created through BuddySign.
What is a buddy statement, lay statement, or witness statement?
These are written accounts from someone who has personal knowledge of a veteran's service, in-service events, or condition. VA may consider these statements as supporting evidence in a disability claim. The terms buddy statement, lay statement, and witness statement are often used interchangeably.

A VSO, accredited claims agent, or attorney can provide claim-specific guidance.

BuddySign makes no guarantees about VA decisions, ratings, outcomes, or deadlines. VA decides what evidence it accepts and how much weight to give it.
Witness Signing
Who signs the statement?
The witness or buddy must personally review and sign the statement.
The veteran should not sign for the witness. Do not apply a signature for someone else.
A witness should only sign if the statement is true and based on what they personally know, saw, heard, or observed.
What does the buddy or witness have to do?
Witnesses must personally review and sign. Detailed workflow materials are available only through an NDA-protected walkthrough. Contact hello@buddysign.com to request access.
Can the witness edit the statement before signing?
